Building on this thread about upgrading / rebuilding diffs: [ http://twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=1167408 ] This other thread suggests that the wrong oil or not properly breaking in could cause diff gears to glaze and then whine: [ http://twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/forums/general/view/2647142/You-want-the-new-trans-to-heat-cycle-and-harden-with-age.html ] If I have my diff rebuilt, is there a break-in procedure? If so, is there a specific break-in oil to use? After break-in, is there a preferred oil to use? FSM status GL-5 75W-90, but nothing about friction modifiers, nor preferred brands. I see Red Line has a 75W-90 GL-5, but states it has friction modifiers. Is that the best option, or should I look at Motul, etc?
